Hi,

My wife and I are looking to buy a home in the Edgewater/Annapolis area and I will have to commute to Arlington 2 days a week. What is the commute like? Is it any shorter if I leave either early (6AMish) or later (830AMish)? What about the return trip? I will be able to work from home on Fridays (I know friday traffic can be abysmal) so this is really a Mon-Thurs issue. Thanks for any help!

If your leaving from edgewater the best way to go is take 214 west toward Washington to the Beltway 495 (south) intersection in Seat Pleasant via Richmond. Take 495 into va. Commute is only and hour and 40 minutes on a good day. Rush hour on 495 probably adds around 2 hours and 50 mins on the commute.

Depending on your office location, you could always hop on the Orange Line at New Carrollton Station and take it all the way to Arlington.

I worked in Arlington (Rosslyn) with a girl who commuted from Annapolis. She drove to the Orange Line (New Carrollton) and took that in. Took her about 1 hour and 35 minutes door to door (she arrived at work at 9am).

2 days a week should not be a problem. Everyday on the other hand....
