Crazy. Anyone else experience this? What really confuses me is how residents don't call the cops sooner? Do they feel as if they have no options and let this stuff happen for weeks/months on end?

Google the address here. That is actually a pretty good neighborhood where this happened.

I just don't understand how neighbors let this stuff go on.

My home is down by Ft Foote Park and I had someone a block over hold house parties on Saturday during summer. Not sure if it was this style of for profit event but I called the cops after the second time the music could be heard clear as day in my house at 12pm....problem solved, didn't happen again.

It was an interesting article. Living there, I would not have assumed it was a for-profit party. But, I would have probably called the cops the second time it happened.

We suspect there is a house like that here in our neighborhood. The parties aren't once a week, thank God, but they do occur about once a month. And when they do, it is LOUD. I feel sorry for the houses directly next to them. I'm across the street and down the road a bit and have double-pane gas filled windows and can still hear the music.

But like the article said, this is an issue that has recently exploded and law-makers need to respond. A $250 shouldn't be a cost-of-business. The fine should be more of a deterrent. I'm thinking there should be fines attached to the property. If trying to pay the mortgage is a reason these parties are held in the first place, then put a lien on the house through fines or something. I'm not a lawyer, but make it pointless to host a party to pay the mortgage if the fine erases any money you may make by having the party.

There was a house like that in my neighborhood too last year. For 3 THURSDAY nights in a row during the summer there was a party at the house with loud music. I occasionally see a van for WPGC parked in the driveway of the house so I'm assuming maybe someone affiliated with the station was part of the party. I believe neighbors eventually called the cops because after the 3rd week (the height of summer) there were no more parties. And none this year either.

I recenlty attended a pool party like this in Clinton about 2 months ago, it wasn't dangerous or nearly as bad as the article claiming it could have been, however I can imagine the next day clean up was a mess-

Hopefully the party planners are at least be resposnible and cleaning up after themselves-

And this party had a go-go band as well who stopped playing at a certain time, no overtime, as well as I could have sworn I saw a Prince George's County park police officer doing security.....

I think many people can respect parties such as these. I don't mind a party every once in a while. I'll even accept once a month or so. As long as the music is cut at the lawful time, all trash is picked up, and people don't linger outside your house holding loud conversations into the morning.

I agree. I have no issue with occasional parties that lower the music at appropriate hours.
