My family is visiting Washington DC and was thinking about renting a house in Pepper Mill Village, but a little uncertain about the area. Anybody have any insight?

its called peppermill and no its not a good area. its near NE side of DC and nearby seat pleasant. I would stay clear anywhere near capital heights or anything off central ave. Its not a vacation spot! Try national harbor in or areas near annapolis. I’m warning you! good luck

Thank you papichulo2! We were going to commute from the rental house to DC and other areas as we are visiting the white house, ballpark, etc...
We are looking for areas closer to the white house, annapolis might be a little too far. Any recommendations for areas near white house, ballpark? Kid friendly too as we are traveling with our infant son and other couples 5 year old.

Thanks!

Short answer is no. Pepper mill is not a place I would recommend you to rent in. I would look at places in either Hyattsville or even Riverdale or College Park. As mentioned National Harbor is a good choice also.

There is nothing wrong with that area, I actually live there. I walk to the METRO for work, the area is fine. This is an area that has expanding growth such as at Ritchie Station Marketplace and such. Seat Pleasant is next to us, the area called Capitol Heights is large and goes from the DC boarder to the Beltway. As a resident it is fine, dont let people who know nothing about the area deter you. The nearby METRO station can get you right to downtown and the Nat's Stadium, this is excellent especially if you are not renting a car.

You can get robbed at gun point anywhere, me and my community walk back and forth just fine to the Addison Road. also the Peppermill Village area is huge, runs from Cindy Lane down to about Hill Road and damn near all the way back to MLK. The Villages at Peppermill are the new Townhouses there and we are just fine there.

Lol @ people who "don't know nothing about the area" and I live off Central Ave. Take it from me you can find a few better options than Peppermill Village especially if your not familiar with the area. I'm not saying its the slums or anything however.
