Also I believe I saw them tearing down at least a part of what was supposed to be the new Metropolitan Baptist Church right off Central Ave and the Beltway.

Does anyone know of future plans for this now defunct property/area?

Hmmmm. I didn't know Ashley Furniture was a part of that mess. :-) We've had nothing but bad experiences with Marlo. Wrote them off a long time ago.

When you think about it, DC proper doesn't have any good furniture stores either. So, we're not alone. :-) Haverty's is in Bowie. Does Ikea count? lol

Perhaps it's a grocery store. My mom is always complaining about the lack of grocery stores in PG county.

Not saying I agree with my mom. But I have heard this complaint from multiple people. They did close down that Safeway off 214, also a lot of people preferred Food Lion to Weis.

Not much has changed. How many new grocery stores do you think have opened in the county in the past 7 years? It took whole Foods 6 years to open. The Safeway at University Town Center was supposed to open 8 years ago. The data may be old, but I think it is still pretty much valid today. Some stores have actually closed like the Safeway in Capitol Heights.
