I hope the comic book store stays. NW Chinese is pretty good. I don't frequent the other businesses much.

https://www.kabircares.org/council-a...scape-project/

With last night’s approval, the construction of this $2.8 million project is expected to start next month and to be completed in November, this year.
Once completed, the project will add parklets, safe bike lanes and sidewalks, intersection improvements, shade trees, pedestrian-scale lighting, landscaping, benches, and public arts to the Hollywood commercial district around the intersection of Rhode Island Avenue and Edgewood Road.
Additionally, City’s public investment is expected to invite private investments to help revitalize this important commercial district of College Park.

Been busy with a new job and all. But it is crazy how much development is going on right now AFTER an economic shock. Makes 2008 look more devastating economically than COVID as far as local development is concerned.

It is exciting to see so many cranes up with more to come. The continuation of the Purple Line constructions is just icing on the cake.

I wonder how much retail will go into this new development. College Park is still lacking a white tablecloth restaurant where you can get a good decent steak. OMG filled that void until it folded.

Any news on the Kapnos Taverna replacement?

So, now that we know that there will be a Crunch gym at the new Aster development, does anyone know if it will be a Crunch Signature, Select, or Fitness?

I'd rather it be Signature or Select. They come with towel service and I would drop Gold's for this new one. If not, Gold's already provides towel service and a Sauna. So, I would just stay there.

College Park Council trying to make biking safer. https://dbknews.com/2021/04/12/colle...ke-lane-plans/

Current plans for the project indicate the bike lanes will run from Muskogee Street to Greenbelt Road, right next to the main roadway. The lanes will be five feet wide, said Stacy Barefoot, the company’s senior project engineer for this project.
For construction and planning purposes, the project is broken into two phases, Barefoot said. Phase one, which covers University Boulevard to Muskogee Street, will cost approximately $530,000. The second phase, which covers Greenbelt Road to University Boulevard, will be $465,000.
