Every college town deserves a good diner.
I grew up in NJ, every town needs a good Diner !

Well, for one, Cracker Barrel is kinda too far to contribute to connections to the university. Online, even less so.

I'm not sure if you've been to other universities. But there is an energy that is generated when alumni, students, and locals gather in one spot to purchase items with the university logo. I've experienced it visiting many different universities from Tuskegee to Harvard.

There's no plaza on RT. 1 either. The Maryland Book Exchange was the University/College Park connection. Now that's gone. It needs to come back. Online isn't the answer to all retail and I don't think it will ever be.

At some point the bookstore in Stamp Student Union should be relocated to a more visible location off but near campus. Perhaps with the City Hall block redevelopment?

I think that's an excellent idea.

I ate at Cava Mezze in Baltimore this week. No, I didn't get mugged. I was impressed with the food. Now I'm excited about their Cava Mezze Grill opening in College Park. ANyone know when they will open?

There is a difference between Cava Mezze Grill and Cava Grill...same ownership to my knowledge, but Cava Grill is fast casual and coming to CP, Cava Mezze Grill is sit down dining and isn't coming to CP (very similar to Kapnos Taverna actually)...Cava Grill is assembly line greens and grains bowls like chipolte for mediterranean food. That said, I'm pretty excited about it coming to CP AND Mezeh coming to MPG at relatively the same time which are basically same thing different name.
