Hello

I plan to relocate to the Gaithersberg area- I have a job offer at MedImmune in Gaithersberg. My salary is going to be ~$54,000.
Is this an average salary for this area??
I am a single with 2 large dogs and am looking to live fairly close to Gaithersberg but am looking at Germantown too.
Can anyone please advise of specific areas for renting apartments/houses that are dog friendly.
I am just looking for a nice 1 bedroom for me and my dogs that is possibly near public transportation as I won't have a car for a few weeks after my move. I'm sure I'll have more questions later. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Gaithersburg stats from 2005
Gaithersburg, Maryland (MD) Detailed Profile - relocation, real estate, travel, jobs, hospitals, schools, crime, news, sex offenders
Median household income is about $68,000 BUT it will be considerably higher west of I-270 (where Medimmune is located).

Germantown stats from 2005
//www.city-data.com/city/Germantown-Maryland.html
Median household income is about $72,000

Your search is going to be fairly limited due to your salary and having 2 large dogs. Most places on the west side of I-270 in Gaithersburg will be pricey and the more north you go in Germantown, the less desirable it gets. I believe Germantown by Wisteria and Middlebrook is where the Section 8 housing and the associated crimes become prevalent.

The dogs will be a problem. If you only had one (smaller) dog then you could try the Fields of Gaithersburg which has apartments for your income level, and is really close to Med-Immune.
