Totally random question, but I wanted to know if there were any places where I could buy seasonings and herbs (such as rosemary/cliantro) for a relatively reasonable price around here rather than go to the traditional grocery stores? When I lived in Atlanta, I used to go to the DeKalb Farmer's Market where they sold seasonings in huge plastic containers, and they were much cheaper than what the grocery stores sold.

Are there any international markets or farmers markets that sell them in a similar fashion? I was told about Miller Farms in Clinton, and maybe some international markets up in Langley Park.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Amazon Fresh?

Also, I know a lot of people that grow their own.

Some of the more rural farm stands maybe. Since you list your location as "DMV" it's difficult to be more specific. I do know that a couple of the farmers at our Friday night Farmer's Market have them in the Spring, I don't know about now.

I miss the Dekalb Farmers market too!

Have had good luck with the bulk spice departments at Whole Foods (in Rockville) and at MOMs Organic Market (in Rockville). The bulk spices are much less expensive.

Some of the Amish markets (like the one in Laurel) *may* have spices; know I have purchased some in bulk when we went to Amish country in Pennsylvania.

Penzey's Spices has a store on Rockville Pike. I haven't been there yet, but they do have a website so you can check out prices: https://www.penzeys.com/

Most grocery stores have Hispanic sections which carry bay leaves, cilantro, etc in small cello packages. They are cheaper than the herbs in jars, and you can refill your own jars. Also try the Adventist Health Food and Book Store in the Cherry Orchard area of Silver Spring. They carry bulk items.

Any H-Mart or Lotte will have a big pile of common (and not so common herbs) for pretty cheap.

If you have a MOMs Organic Market nearby, they have herbs and spice mixes in bulk serve-yourself jars. Very inexpensive compared to the supermarket stuff, and as a bonus their offerings are usually organic and/or fair trade. Their stock is usually fresher too. You can even bring your own containers to fill directly. In my closest MOMs they have separate sections for herbs and spices used in cooking, and for those used in tea, supplements, herbal remedies etc.

I've heard Whole Foods also has bulk herbs, but haven't been myself to see their selection.
