OK, that's also what I've heard. Meaning no plans, or rather nothing past a preliminary and now outdated study or two.

This idea, as well as running light rail down the median of 301, has been floated for at least a couple decades (also down the median of 4) and always breaks apart over the issues of cost and lack of ridership density.

I agree, that's why when I read a quote of 45 mins from Waldorf to Branch or it's 15 to 20 years ,I know it's false.

Im not sure a speed camera would work in Indian Head. Its a huge road for going fast. And motorcyclists oftentime don't have tags, and some with tags have a flip up tag. PG is filled with sportbike guys who ride 100mph on the highway. Speed cameras wont stop them.

But they do need to do something about it. Not sure what they can do.

I don't think people south of Fort Washington would take the commuter rail. it seems to much into car culture down there.

Well, I'm not making this up. A couple of years ago, the leading newspaper of Charles County (the "Maryland Independent") had the leading front-page, top cover story about plans for the 301 rail line, and it quoted a government official guessing that the rail line could be ready in 20 years (from that date). It also listed the proposed stations, and said the run would take around 40 minutes, factoring in several stops. Sorry, I don't remember his name, nor have a copy of the article.

I remember that now. That was based on the study which was done in the 90s at the behest of Senator For Life (until he got beat in 2014) Roy Dyson (D-St. Mary's). It was considered DOA when it was first presented back then, apparently the Charles Commissioner who was quoting it hadn't read the memo.

I can't stand driving on 210, but it's the only way for me to get to 495.. Nothing will change.
