I didn't see any threads on this or any thread regarding Suitland news and developments. This project officially broke ground this past Thursday.

Quote:
Prince George’s County officials break ground Thursday on Town Square at Suitland Federal Center, called the largest redevelopment project in the Maryland county’s history.

Town Square at Suitland Federal Center, at 4730 Homer Ave., is a 1-million-square-foot, mixed-use development that will include close to 900 apartments and single family homes, 100,000 square feet of retail space and a 50,000-square-foot performing arts center.

It has the potential of being a big economic driver for Suitland.

This is good news for that area. It could use some new development to bring new life to that area. I look forward to seeing what it looks like at completion. Hopefully they can tie that whole area together with the census bureau to make it all cohesive and not isolated.

I swear PG and Montgomery Counties always cheated on unlike Northern Virginia when it comes to adding Office Buildings to their so-called "mixed-used" development projects. PG County especially needs a few business districts with mostly office buildings to bring more jobs into PG County in order to balance Businesd growth between Suburban Maryland and Northern Virginia.....

Do anyone think it is worth buying a home in the new development? Do anyone think the development will help revitalize the area?

I live not far from that area and just noticed the building of the new townhomes. It seems as if these have gone out overnight. I think the price is also too expensive for the area.

Hopefully it will revitalize the area, but unless they do something with the other side of Silver Hill Rd I don't see how this can succeed. They closed that Rite Aide a while ago, but there needs to be something done along that entire stretch of road

The District Heights shopping center with the Giant and other eateries were a success so I have my fingers crossed that this will pan out for the area.
