I really have to scratch my head as to why it seems as though many residents of the DC area, of all races, go to such great lengths to deny the effect the federal government has on salaries and wealth in this area.
Are the private contractor jobs in auxiliary industries to the jobs in the federal government jobs?

Some numbers which might help.

Employment by governments-federal, state and local comprise a combined 28% of the jobs in the County with local being the largest at a bit over 13% of total employment.

Education and health services are a separate category with just under 11%. I mentioned that because I don't know whether the public schools are included in the local government or education and health services category.

Interesting that they use average as opposed to the standard choice of measurement of median when looking at area incomes and net worth. Just one billionaire can skew the average numbers.

At any rate since they're so wealthy can we finally dispense with the notion that these people were preyed upon during the financial crisis?

The federal government is the engine that drives this economy and PG. Denying it doesn't make any sense.

We should but certain posters won't.

I am happy for anyone doing well. That's first. But anyone can look at PG and see that earnings are all over the place. What's more, appearances don't tell the full story. Some people might look to be doing well, but it's all on debt, and they might have a rude awakening. Other people look to being doing poorly but are socking away for a rainy day. I won't say it's fake news. I will say it's specious at best.

No analysis allowed, you're just supposed to keep saying it over and over.

Median White income in Montgomery County is $119,000 compared to median black income of PG County of $74,000

Whites in Montgomery county account for 77% of the people that make over $200,000

In Prince George's County blacks account for 67% of the people that make over $200,000 a year

https://statisticalatlas.com/county/...usehold-Income

110,000 people in Montgomery County make over $200,000 a year compared to 23,000 in PG County that make over $200,000 a year

Blacks are rich compared to blacks in rest of America, but middle class compared to whites
