Does anyone have any recommendations on areas for a young professional to live? My place of work will physically be in Indian Head, however, I don't mind up to a 30-40 minute commute as I understand it is pretty rural there. I'm 25 and looking for a safe suburb with reasonably priced rental housing in a fun area.

Thanks in advance!

What do you consider reasonably priced... The cost of living in MD is insanely high so you might not be prepared depending on where you are coming from...

As far as Waldorf/La Plata/Indian head the safe areas will be expensive and not be close to anything fun, and the cheap areas will be ghetto.

Some areas of Waldorf may be rather ghetto but there are some nice areas also. But I really don't think of any Southern Maryland areas as "fun" as far as young single professionals go. It's definitely a family-oriented area of Maryland. There are two young teachers that live near me that relocated from Michigan and PA, I believe. But they seem to be more into their yard, fixing up their home, etc rather than the fun, single life, which is basically non-existent in Waldorf, LaPlata or Indian Head.
