I saw an endocrinologist upon recommendation by a family member. But as it turned out, the doctor's office demanded payment just after I was seen, and refused to file an insurance claim. She just gave me a yellow copy and told me to file the claim myself. They charged me $1100 and my insurance (BCBS) paid me $180. All I got was an exam, some blood samples sent to a lab, and some prescriptions renewed. I don't think I should have to pay over $800 out of pocket. What are my rights in this state? Some states make it illegal for physicians to not file claims electronically.

You should have posted in the medical insurance thread but it is YOUR responsibility to see if a Dr. you are seeing accepts your insurance.

They said they take my insurance, but it was deceptive.

Does your insurance require a referral? What were the bulk of the costs for? The exam, the lab, or the drugs?
