Gambrills is similar to Odenton just a tad more rural. It covers a pretty wide area and has great shopping options with Waugh Chapel. I think like other's have said. Davidsonville is pretty rural. It really doesn't have any shopping or dining. However it's within 15 minutes of just about everything you'd need. Whether it be in Bowie, Annapolis or up by Waugh Chapel. It is a bit pricey, but if you want a big lot it's the best option. Most of the developments have an ordinance to make sure the area doesn't become over developed (it almost did). As far as schools go, there's only a couple options and they rank very well.

Thank you Turnerbro, very helpful. Can you speak to the traffic round trip to Lanham from any of these areas? Assuming the commute would be on the 50.

Traffic on 50 usually isn't too bad. Sometimes it has a lot of volume but nothing compared to the beltway. Depending on where your job in Lanham is it might be more direct to just use 450. However that road is full of poorly timed lights.

Gambrills can also feel rural like Davidsonville depending on where you settle. The main thing to remember is that it’s okay to be a little remote when you know things are nearby. Davidsonville is remote but Route 3 is nearby with the Wegmans supercenters, Annapolis and Edgewater are nearby and developed, and DC and Baltimore are still within reach. I’ve stayed in places in other states where a significant shopping area is 40 miles away, and that can get quite boring and depressing. Maryland is small so you won’t have that problem at least.
