This is great news and long overdue but I'm confused. Is the proposal an entire new bridge that is wider with bike lanes?

Now if both states would do something with route 15 and then let's talk about extending route 28 from Virginia into Maryland to connect with their route 28 or maybe Interstate 370. That would be a nice bypass to the beltway....

Too many wealthy landowners would have to be displaced. Translation: Ain't gonna happen in my lifetime and probably yours too.

Maryland has the ROW for a 4 lane divided highway along the US-15 corridor from the Virginia line north. Virginia hasn't done a thing north of Leesburg in 50 years.

As far as Fairfax pkwy/ Sam Eig highway - too many politically connected landowners on both sides of the river for the two to ever be connected

I too am confused. I've seen reports that hint at a complete replacement, and also just an extra 4 lanes.

Loudon County has designated its two preferred sites for a future bridge, that would link with MD 28.
Not sure how much relevance to give that.
