I was looking at some high schools that were rated 8 or 9 not that long ago. Now they are rated 5 or 6.

WTF is going on? Does the county think that people aren't noticing this decline?

I'd assume most people who care about superficial ratings actually click on the score and see the cause is a change in formula. I sincerely doubt the average BCC parent cares that the recently added "equity overview" category scores the school as a 5. The 10 score for "college readiness" is still what they care about.

True. Whenever I see posts like the OP it makes me want to SCREAM. Stop using GreatSchools to evaluate schools! There are other sites that put out more accurate ratings.

You need to do some better research.

Like Schooldigger? USnews? They show the same decline in many high schools across Montgomery County.

Which sites are more accurate and what makes you think so?

The decline in ratings is one reason that Montgomery is considering redrawing attendance boundaries. They claim it's "for diversity", which may be partially true, but it's also to spread the high achievers around.

Why is this surprising? Montgomery County is a sanctuary county. For years now, they've been eagerly importing low-achieving illegal aliens by the truckload. As their numbers increase, inevitably they weigh down the overall school achievement rankings. This was as predictable as the sunrise, for those who are not blinded by political correctness. The bleeding heart liberals are getting exactly what they voted for.
