Hi, we're a small family with a 1 year old and looking to buy sfh in rockville/twinbrook/silver spring with budget under 600k. In normal times, we commute to downtown dc so with the metro access/bus lines we've been looking at houses in the Aspen Hill Park/Aspen Knolls/Wheaton Woods area. What are the neighborhoods like to live in? We would like to be in a place where it's safe and kid friendly to walk around the neighborhood. Ideally not where you'd need to be super cognizant of which blocks you can walk through and ones to avoid. Currently renting in NW DC and really enjoy walking in our neighborhood which is pretty safe even at night. Obviously not expecting to have the same kind of access to restaurants, activities etc but we'd like to prioritize safety and walkability.

You can walk through whichever blocks you want. There aren't drive by shootings or gangs defending territory, or something. Your main concern re: safety should likely be traffic-related. Crossing main arteries daily like Veirs Mill would be by far the most dangerous thing you or your kids would face so take the into consideration for the commute or walk to school. Your budget can get you something closer to Rockville metro/amenities, which might be a better fit.

It can be pretty nice in spots and a little run down in others. Overall it's not at all dangerous.

Aspen Hill/ Wheaton Woods is a largely Hispanic area. I'd say most of it's around 50% Hispanic. But there are pockets of 70-80% Hispanic.

Being both 100% racist and 100% inaccurate is peak 2020. Congrats.

It is racist to point out that a certain area is largely Hispanic?

You have literally hundreds of racist posts on here directed towards Hispanics. I don't know who you think you're fooling right now. The intent of your exaggeration is obvious and you can **** right off.
