According to Welcome To CrimeReports.com, it doesn't appear to be as safe as I thought. Any thoughts?

We've lived in Russett for over 5 years and have found it to be very safe. I know there have been a few incidents at the big apartment building (Concord?), as well as one assault, but I don't think that's more than you'd find in other nearby areas. We feel very safe walking around and the neighbors are friendly and look out for one another.

Yeah, I've heard some negative comments regarding the apartment complexes in the Russett...particulary Camden. I thinking about purchasing a townhome in the area closest to 295 (around orion circle). Very nice and reassuring to hear you say such nice things about the area.

MY brother own a Town home in Russett and one day while driving to visit I notice they use the Hotel at the corner across from the liquor store for prostitution. I heard about it on the news but I saw this with my own eyes about 3 weeks ago.

I've lived in the Russett area for 6 years now and, I haven't had any problems barring someone breaking into the mailboxes at my apartment complex. As a mail carrier in the area, I know they have a problem with theft somewhat. I can't leave packages at the apartments in Burning Springs or Brushyridge Roads or across the street at the townhomes there. We've had people steal packages there.

Anyone at the Russetts feel a bit uneasy knowing that the Oak Hill Youth Detenter Center is not to far from the Russett Community?

My dear friend has lived in the Russett Community since it was built and he is always telling me how they are constantly fighting to get rid of Oak Hill (a detention center for DC juveniles). The problem with the center is there is not an effective alert system to notify neighborhoods when there is an escape...

Maryland senators want Oak Hill closed

Another problem from what I saw is that it would be very easy for them to leave unless they have some kind of security in the buildings. I've delivered Express Mail and regular mail there. Sometimes, they don't have any guard at the entrance. I suspect the biggest drawback escaping wise from what I've seen is they have a LONG walk (at least a mile or more) to get out and they come out on Maryland 198. The traffic really flies by their entrance. Also, anyone leaving would seriously stick out. They are doing some serious construction there. I suspect they need to as some of the buildings I've seen there are very run down. In my opinion, the center is closer to the base than it is to Russett. However, the base is the last place they'd want to go with security as tight as it is there.

Funny you say that...

Several years ago I was driving at night on 32 East towards Ft Meade but not quite to NSA and two young men jumped out of nowhere onto 32 - it was a matter of seconds till the NSA police nabbed them!
