Where's the best location in MD to find a nice townhome, good community, safe neighborhood and still get to Fed Triangle with some ease (i.e. less than 1 hour)?

You should let us know what your max housing budget is. That will largely determine the advice given.

Best,

I live in Kensington and commuted to Federal Triangle for over 5 years. I either got on at Wheaton metro or drove. You can do it in less than an hour by metro or car. If you leave before rush hour it's a very fast trip. You might be able to find an older townhome in your price range, though there doesn't seem to be a lot of townhome stock here. Aspen Hill area (as close to Glenmont metro as you can get) might have some options. Closer in Silver Spring also may have some options. Both closer to downtown and the neighborhood around Forest Glen metro. If you have school age children you'll have to look carefully at schools in all of these areas.

You should look into the Severna Park, Arnold,Millersville area..it is in Anne Arundel county. I live in Severna park and it is beautiful here, safe and a lot to do.

Sounds nice but how would I commute? MARC? Don't you think it would take a long time to get into downtown DC?
