I am thinking of moving to Silver Springs, MD. I am a RN BSN in pediatrics and haven't found anything in my field online. I welcome any info on this job search I will be there in about 6 months from Denver..

That's Silver Spring. (no "s") Have you checked the National Children's Hospital in DC? I'm not a pediatric nurse so can't be very helpful. My daughter was a patient at Children's years ago which the only reason I think of it.

Silver Spring should be decent for your field. In addition to the facilities autimom4ever listed, there might be related opportunities at the FDA consolidated headquarters is in White Oak (neighborhood in north SS), along with the site of the new Washington Adventist hospital. It won't be built in time for your move though, but good for future prospects, and the current hospital is in Takoma Park, which is only 5-15 minutes away. Kaiser Permanente Mid-Atlantic has some facilities here as well.

Have you applied for your RN license yet? Just a word of caution - it can take a long time. I applied in August of 2008 and received it February 2009. They said it had something to do with a backlog of FBI fingerprints (you have to obtain your fingerprints at an FBI certified facility now). I was not prepared for that long of a delay. The same thing happened to my friend - took her just over 6 months. Part of the problem was they would not process my application until I had verified my residence as being in Maryland (driver's license, ect)
