You could also look around the following Metro stop areas in DC:

Friendship Heights/Chevy Chase
Van Ness/UDC
Cleveland Park
Woodley Park

Glover Park is nice too, despite not being that close to the Metro. In addition, you could consider Arlington, VA, as some of it is very close to DC and only a short Metro ride from Dupont Circle.

If you are looking for someplace a little quieter, you could check out these places (in no particular order):

Gaithersburg
Germantown
Kensington
Takoma Park

Do bear in mind that with the exception of Takoma Park, the commute to Dupont Circle will likely be longer for these places. Hope this helps!

This is absolutely correct.

I know you specified MoCo in your OP, but you may want to take a look at my town, University Park, in Prince George's County. University Park is an incorporated town within P.G. County with our own town government, police force, sanitation department, etc. Very similar in look and feel to the very expensive area of Chevy Chase, Maryland but with houses that are a little smaller and a LOT more affordable. Metro station is with a mile, and we have a town shuttle that runs throughout the town and to the metro every morning and evening. Many people assume that since University Park is in Prince George's County that it is unsafe, but that is UNTRUE ! Our town has lower crime than any almost all the areas mentioned by previous posters in MoCo. Lots of SAHMs, playground and park in town with one other playground in College Park about .8 mile from center of town. I could go on and on - but check out our town website www.upmd.org
