Hi;
I will be moving with my wife in Greenbelt by Oct End. Please suggest me a decent apt within $1000/month. I have heard that Empirian Village and SpringHill Apt are not very safe.Is it true?

Spring Hill is a really large apartment complex and it seems that those are very hard to manage in the D.C. area. You may want to try looking at rentals of some of the smaller houses in Greenbelt. It's also challenging to quantify crime in any metropolitan area. For example, most of the Washington DC area has an increased rate of petty crime, like car break-ins compared to middle town America. Even the "nice" neighborhoods have this type of crime. So I wouldn't take anybody's word for it that a particular area is safe or unsafe. Look at the specifics of the crime statistics: the street locations and the specific types of crime.

I would look at the apartment complexes in "old Greenbelt"... a couple of friends of ours live there and the apartments are nice and the prices are reasonable and within your budget.

do NOT move to emperian village. If you dont want to take my word for it, go to apartmentreviews.com and type in emperian village in greenbelt. It is completely unsafe and rundown, and the maintenance is nonexistent. There are 3000 apartments, meaning at least 7000 tenants and less than 50 staff. Zero security and greenbelt police have made it NO SECRET that they do NOT patrol emperian village.

DO NOT MOVE TO EMPIRIAN VILLAGE!!! That was the worst place I have ever stayed, and THEY ARE NOT RENOVATED ONLY REFACED. Meaning new paint, a/c units, appliances, cabinets and exterior stuff. When I lived there, no no no, I never lived there, I stayed there and the roaches lived there. They need to gut every unit and spray for bugs because the roaches live behind every wall. I couldn't get rid of them at all. I bombed my place every week for 3 months and they were still there, still going strong. Also the place has a mildew problem I was constantly sick when I lived there. Many residents have similar complaints check apartmentreview.com.
