ddubs8301 ROTF (LOL) I agree with your post, but being that they will just be relocating maybe they should stay closer versus those long commuting areas you suggested? VA might be too expensive and the commute over the bridge isn't the greatest! Then again i don't know their work hours. Incidentally gucci, Crofton is next to Bowie so it's not much of a distance!

Thank you so much for the input ddubs8301-- From the sounds of it we will probably be better off skip PG county. I'm sure it is the right fit for some people....but our family is sooooo vanilla and just moving to this part of the country will be a SHOCK. We've spent most of our lives in small town Idaho, so I'm sure you can see why I am so cautious!

I'm going to go look at those areas you suggested! Thanks again-- Ann

Calvert County doesn't really have any unsafe areas, unless you count klans people.

and Crofton reminds me of Montgomery, Alabama. The racial tension there is awful.

LOL there is! Bowie/Crofton is kind of a mix. Calvert is kind of scary, was thinking of buying a house there too until I saw the "characters" outside a church. Let's just say it didn't feel like home... You should really come take a look, drive around and see how you feel in the different neighborhoods. We can give you all the advice in the world but only you know what you are comfortable with, we are just pointing you a few directions.

guccirush,

Calvert county in a great place to raise a family (of any race) and is a great choice for someone like yourself looking for a clean safe place to raise your family and with great schools. Its a good fit for someone who doesnt want to live near the hustle and bustle of the city/urban but needs to be closed to it enough for work/career.

I would check out communities in the Northern parts of the county for a better commute for your husband to Bolling AFB (North Beach ,Chesapeake Beach , Prince Frederick , Owings , Huntingtown and more that I've forgotten about.

Calvert County is nothing like the two previous posters have written about.

Good luck with your hunt and hope all will work out for you and your family.
