Dear Forum Members:

I would like your help in guiding me in my relocation and here are my questions:

(1) For a married couple with one child, is 88k a year manageable for the area? I would like to rent at least a 2bdrm within the College Park area?

(2) The job will be in Beltsville with the USDA. They have a free shuttle from the Greenbelt Station. Yet I would like like to live in or near College Park if possible, so that my wife may attend classes there.

(3) Is it possible to live in Beltsville, Adelphi, Greenbelt, Hyattsville or another area and still commute by bus and/or rail to the Greenbelt station in order to catch the bus?

(4) I have researched and found condos in Beltsville from between 1200 to 1400 a month such as off Powder Mill Road and also in Adelphi/Hyattsville off of Metzerott Rd.

Are those areas safe?

(5) If the group members provide information that deters me from focusing on just taking the bus/rail, I may just bring my car or buy one in Maryland.

Many thanks in advance!

Sincerely,

Trablus

Your salary is plenty...

The area's you have highlighted are very diverse...parts are middle class homes and other parts are very immigrant heavy from latin countries/carribean
Good food in those areas...not upscale but at least authentic/traditional...

I personally would look for housing in Laurel which is a straight shot down route 1 and also runs to college park. You would have convenient access to walmarts, targets, sams club I-95/Bmore Pkwy..Beltsville/Adelphi are not bad and Greenbelt got apartment complexes.. Just go visit and go with your gut...
