I lived near Rhode Island Ave NE metro very recently. Eckington is fine. East of the metro it can get rather sketchy, and if you are doing an apartment, stick to either a small building, refurbed building, or new apartment. Some buildings are sketchy that's it. For the two years I lived there, there was considerable improvement. But it can be spotty in some areas. Overall, I would recommend it. I only moved, because I bought. Compared to Detroit though it is probably downright safe. At this point I would put most of NE in the okay to live in category.

The area is improving, as is Brookland. 35 female.

Also give your budget, because there are likely other neighborhoods in it.

With that being said, with your address, I would not recommend a place that far east on rhode island. It's far removed from the metro, kind of sketch in some pockets along the route, and a long walk.

What's your budget, lets see if there are better options.

push comes to shove theres several buses that run frequently along Rhode Island Ave. If she lives near Franklin St she can also catch the H6 to Brookland station. That bus also runs frequently.
