I'm relocating to DC from the west coast. I live in a cool urban neighborhood now (Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood) and would like to keep that lifestyle. I'm looking for a hip place with some nightlife, but I'm nearing the big 30 so my undergrad drink-'til-you're-sick days are behind me and hopefully behind everyone I'm living around. I'm just looking for an area with good places to eat and some friendly neighborhood bars. Safety would also be nice. My job will be in the Dupont Circle area and I prefer to keep my commute to a minimum. Any neighborhood suggestions? The boundaries of the neighborhoods are still a little blury to me so the more specific the better. Thanks.
You pretty much nailed it yourself....Dupont circle is exactly what you want...also check out Logan, Ust Corridor, maybe Tenley Town. Capitol/Eastern market also fits what your looking for but its kind of expensive (lawyers).....
You may also want to consider some of the abutting NoVa cities too like: Arlington, Alexandria, Crystal City, Rossyln, Ballston, Clarendon etc...all these cities are in easy commuting distance to the District, and will on average be cheaper in comparison to the sought-after areas of D.C.
