Teachers union helped unseat Fenty - Ben Smith - POLITICO.com

"Labor has typically been little more than window dressing in local DC campaigns. This operation stepped it up to an unprecedented level. Without AFT this race might have been a coin flip,"

great, our mayor's race was decided by out-of-town special interests who were terrified of Michelle Rhee and her reforms

and I love this nonsense the AFT said there were "other issues" - really, this teachers union is suddenly concerned about Metro? about the reduction in the violent crime rate we had with Fenty?

but I'll bet they were concerned about all the kids in SE who are now CHOOSING charter schools, and don't want to follow the model of antiquated bureaucracies out-of-town AFT members have set up in elsewhere in the country

Vince Gray owes his job to these people, now watch him cower and waver every time the teachers union knocks on his door.
