I wouldn't be surprised if they do have cops there, they've got 'em in god damn CVS in Columbia Heights lol.
And I really don't think it will cause small businesses to shutter, since there aren't many businesses in some of those areas to begin with. I'm not the biggest fan of Walmart's policies and wages, but they're a hell of a lot better than unemployment and no insurance.
Why not? These are areas that severly lack retail options as mentioned. Four seems like a lot but I think there's enough people in those areas to support local businesses and a Walmart. Also Walmarts pay really well for a retailer. I can understand the relunctance of some but overall it'll be good. Walmart does have a bad reputation in small towns but these neighborhoods need a Walmart or SOMETHING.
But 4 though? Why not build 1 or 2 Super Walmarts?
Well wouldn't space or rather the lack there of be an issue? I thought the article said that these Wal-marts would be a touch smaller than the typical Wal-marts. Where in the District would one fit a super Wal-mart.
Honestly I think that most super Wal-marts are just too big for pleasurable shopping. I suppose they could make them like 2 or 3 story Wal-marts like the Target in Columbia Heights.
True, I'm just saying, 4 Wal-Marts seems a bit of overkill.
Well my hometown which is a little under 1/3 the size of the District (185,000 people) has 3 super walmarts and a regular walmart. So its certainly not out of the question.
< dislikes Walmart above VA. Not the same as in the South.
