Considering a new job offer in Silver Spring, MD. Currently living in Harrisburg, PA. Fiance works in Harrisburg. Is it practical to commute on a daily basis? Would some place in the middle, say, Frederick be an option? We might get married later next year... Any advice would be appreciated!

I do this drive (and a bit more) once a week and its draining. 2.5 hours at minimum depending on traffic in DC and around Baltimore. Might try Baltimore...

Frederick is an option, as i the Baltimore area. The drive for your fiance will probably take as long as yours from those areas to Silver Spring though.

Thank u both for the help! Just found out the train service from frederick to silver spring on weekdays. It seems a much better commute solution than driving... Anyone is taking the train? Is it crowded? Thanks!

Is your new jobsite in the "downtown" part of Silver Spring near the station? Because the greater Silver Spring zip-code covers a very wide area of many miles around.

I live in Carroll County, near Westminster, and it's about equidistant. I drive to Silver Spring and it takes me 90 minutes each way, but it's mostly back roads (270 is far too hellacious for me to even consider). I've never gone to H-burg during rush hour, but it's about 75 minutes when I do.

The big benefit is that Westminster is relatively cheap and has pretty much everything you'll need. Except culture. It's pretty short on that.

Acturally I was asking if it's possible to live in frederick and commute by metro to silver spring downtown; and for my fiance to drive from harrisburg to frederick on a daily basis... Thanks!
