You really should hurricane, it will open up whole new worlds for you. The freedom involved in being able to drop everything & get in a vehicle and go to White Flint or Potomac Mills is unparalled.

I was thinking more of the freedom to go to my friend's house in Bowie, or go on a road trip on some historic scenic highways and eat some good road food. Not a big mall person :P

i think about this all the time when I'm riding the metro. It would be SO easy for the "freedom fighters" to do some damage on the metro. It's not guarded, it's not that hard to sneak things in, and on top of that, it'll be very easy to do the most harm during morning rush hour or way home.

Then I think about the structure of the metro stations in DC, and I'm thinking there has to be some sort of safeguard system for these sort of attacks. But I question the dome structure. I think it's only strong from outside pressure and not inside... but I could be wrong. I think about that, because if something did blow up underground, how safe is the ground above?

It's a big concern and I would rather help with the bag search than have a "bad morning".

I guess the biggest concern would be, how much will this delay morning commute.

@Plokivos, I believe some stations supposedly have CBRN (Chemical, Radiological, Biological and Nuclear) detection systems but I don't know how effective they are.

@Stars I sure have.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think these metro stations are nuclear/biological proof.

But they were designed with a futuristic look.

They're not. At best they have sensors that can alert MTPD and maybe the FBI or something.

Lately I have been using the metro when I go out on the weekends. So definitely would be for more security measures when it comes to terrorism.
