A friend of mine is moving to town with his fiancee and the rents he's coming across are insane. The Loree Grand, which is near Union Station in the newly developed NOMA, is offering 2BR/2BA apartments at the modest price of $4200. That offer was too good for him to accept.
So, what are people paying in rent in DC these days? Also, could you state generally whereabout in the area you live? And if possible, provide a description of your apartment/house (i.e., size, rooms, amenities, and overall attractiveness).
$4200 a month on rent is not the norm here in any regard whatsoever. That is Manhattan-like luxury, but still cheaper than living at the Kennedy-Warren.
My rent is 1500, 3 BR/1.5 BA, balcony with a view of a landfill in a small wooded area, basic ghetto fixtures (old, cheap cabinetry, old white fridge, kitchen the size of a walk-in closet), and I freeze my ass off just to get the mail because the mailbox is 200 feet away. No amenities but it is convenient to Metrobus and has a laundry room 100 feet away. Walk a mile further and you'll be at the rental/leasing office. And I live in the hood. But I am thankful I even have a place to live at all.
Location: Standing outside of heaven, wating for God to come and get me.

Just asking cause if you were, I was going to say that there are nicer areas you could stay for a similar price.
