I live near Stanton Park, Capitol Hill and I need to get to around Ingomar St NW and Connecticut Ave NW, arriving just before 9am on a weekday. It seems like using the red line would take about 40-45 minutes, including walking and waiting for the metro. On the other hand Google Maps says driving would only take about 25 minutes, and I do have a car. I am thinking it would be longer than that though with traffic and lights. I don't want to test it and end up being really late. Any guess on how long driving would really take? I would mainly be on North Capitol St NW going north, Georgia Ave NW going north, and Military Rd. NW going west.

Thanks!

The Union Station redline trip to Friendship Heights takes 20 minutes. Take the 8:23 am train from Union Station towards shady grove which will put you at Friendship heights at 8:43 am. Here is the wmata trip planner website, put the station in closest to you and put in friendship heights as the final destination. Make sure you leave enough time once you get off the train to get to where you are going. Driving there would take 40+ minutes during rush hour.

Thanks MDAllstar. I'm familiar with how to get there via metro/walking and how long it would take, but I was hoping I might be able to drive there faster. If you are right about how long it would take in a car, I guess both ways would take about the same amount of time.

Metro would be somewhat faster and a lot easier during rush hour, particularly for you because you live so close to Union Station, and won't have to transfer trains on the way to Friendship Heights.
