Yep. I doubt this will happen. Metro would lose tons of money. I mean come on, Skins games alone? No one likes to drive up to Fed Ex, most take Morgan Boulevard. On the chance of a Sunday Night football game, you're gonna close Metro at 1? Really?
I'm disgusted by the mere idea! The metro should be running longer hours not shorter. If you read some of the comments in the article, there's the idea of "I don't want to pay for a bunch of drunks to have a ride home". Party-goers help the local economy. Some folks could just get a cab but suburbanites might choose to stay home or worse yet drive home drunk. I think it would lead to more parking issues and possibly increased DUIs. Or it could lead to people choosing to party closer to home.
I question if that much track maintenance will actually be performed if the trains closer earlier. I suspect the same maintenance and elevator issues continue with metro just not running the trains as much.
There are plenty of people using the metro on Friday and Saturday nights. I will admit that red and orange lines can be akin to the National Zoo by 2:00 am but the trains are still serving a need.

Being a black male, I really oppose this idea. Some people have never had to live the black man trying to catch a cab experience. Not so bad when I a brother is dressed up but in regular clothes.... smh..

I second this. Nothing worse that 4 black males trying to catch a cab at 4 in the morning in Manhattan.
Oh WMATA. Increase our fares and we still have needless delays and awful elevator/escalator service. Now we'll lose service which I thought the fare increases were supposed to prevent.

Soooooo very true. The worse when the driver that refuses to stop for you is just as black as you and probably your gosh darn neighbor!
