How bad is it going to be? Any option for mass transit?

I'm applying for a job in Adelphi. I currently live in San Diego so I'm not there to make an assessment.

Because I'm in the middle of a lease the only option I have is to transfer from my current apartment to one out there. Unfortunately the Co. has few that fit my needs. They have one in Chevy Chase and one in Columbia. The Chevy Chase one I'd prefer but it doesn't allow pets and we have a cat. The Columbia one is several hundred cheaper but I'm assuming I"ll spend that on commuting at least so they are equal all things considered.

I would be commuting from Columbia. Leaving at 7:15AM or so. The good news for me is that the schools the complex is zoned for pick up the kids with a bus at 7AM. In many ways the Columbia apartment works out very well for me. The Chevy Chase one, however, is only 8 miles from the job!

The only other option is Fairfax - which ideally had the best apartment BUT no way for me to commute to Adelphi from there - it seems as if it would be horrid!

Ideas?

Columbia to Adelphi will be an easy commute. You have option of 95 to 212 to Riggs rd and so on, or 95 to route 1 and so on. There's also 29 to New Hampshire Ave. MARC trains go to College Park with bus service from there to0 Adelphi area.

Thank you so much!

I bit the bullet and will be out there next week to look around. I'm going to rent a car and drive up to see how it is as well.

The positive is I'm going to 3 CAPS games! I figured as long as I was coming out I'd go all in
