To eat there, or to purchase? Price point? I have to agree that costco does a great job if you need to get a lot for a party, but the aesthetics of costco itself are horrible. There are lots of cute shops to buy adorable finger foods, desserts and wines, but you will pay for cuteness.

I thought he was talking about buying food for a party and concerned about the visual layout of the trays and stuff. If he wants to eat there, then I wouldn't suggest it.
Trader Joe's. I buy most of my wine there, and even the cheaper ones are pretty decent (except Charles Shaw, I'm not a fan of that one). My favorites are the Chilean Reserva wines and the Trader Joe's Coastal. The vinho verde is pretty nice in the summer, too (there's two brands, both are good).
They have good cakes/cookies and then frozen appetizers that you could heat up. Do you want something ready-made or are you willing to do some assembly? (for example, I took the pita crackers and topped them with a slice of brie and a small dollop of roasted red pepper tapenade...really easy, quick, and tasty)
