it's quite doable. But it's a lot easier to live in DC without a car so as long as you are renting an apartment within the district. If you're out in the immediate VA/MD suburbs you're gonna be doing a lot of walking and carrying groceries.

ok, i have lived in the city for a minute and i would not recommend coming to the district w/o a vechile unless you find a place somewhere in the vicinity of downtown, u street, adams morgan, or dupont circle. if you don't mind seating on the bus or metro with groceries, household items, etc., then i guess you can come to the city w/o a car. you can definitely find a place for $750 in the city, but not near the metro. a friend of mine, who recently moved to arlington, found numerous places from 750-1000. look up and down columbia pike. its out there, you just have to look.

You can live in DC without a car. People do it everyday. They do this new phenomena called "walking to the grocery store!"

Soul,

Where can you find a (key word: decent) place in or close to DC for $750 ???????

Soul - I'm not sure where $750 exists in the city.

I lived without a car for years there. You just walk to the grocery store.

Perhaps when you say "Washington, DC" you're talking the suburbs too. That would be hard to live without a car - but not the District itself.
