The cop should simply have tased him, and the people who incited him should also be charged.

First, I don't understand what him being short has to do with anything.

Second, this police should either be fired or suspended and forced to take more training. No officer should allow residents' action dictate their actions. They have an important job and a responsibility to do their job professionally. There was absolutely no need to even get in the tussle with this guy. If he wasn't cooperating, like the-writer-guy said, either taser him or use some other means to get control of the situation. It just appeared as the police officer had no control.

Those guys were both idiots. The policeman was unprofessional as hell. And the other guy was a clown for letting the crowd egg him on like that

Stupidity from the officer and the guy. As a officer, you don't attack people unless physically provoked and I didn't see that shown in the video and that guy in the tank top can't think for himself.

You don't think a few cops surrounded by an increasingly hostile mob is a provocation? The cop wasn't perfect (jokingly putting his fists up, for example), but the guy could have walked away many times and if the cop waited to get hit, who knows who else would have jumped in. Recognizing the situation had escalated beyond turning back, he secured the individual quickly and effectively.

On another note, isn't it odd that mostly black people live in the H Street area while mostly white people hang out at its bars, and mostly white people live in AdMo while mostly black people hang out at those bars (at least on the weekends)? Who says this city isn't integrated?

No and I don't care.

That could have turned real ugly with that kind of crowd cheering stuff on, having cellphone cameras on it all, etc.

Notes:
-everyone probably saw the police as losing control of how to handle the situation properly, and went down many notches to idiot territory. The officer allowed self-pride to take over.
-the idiot guy in the white shirt lost the 'fight', but gained in the fact he was able to get an officer to react in such an unprofessional way. Ideal for stories.

The Police officer should not be punished IMO.
