Love/hate relationship with the Red Line. Most of my favorite stops, but also most crowded.

I DESPISE going anywhere near the touristy stops (like Smithsonian). I'm always dragged around to those stops when friends or family are visiting and I have to give them "the tour" for the hundredth time, and it always just makes me suicidal.

Favorite: taking the Yellow across the bridge into the city. On a clear morning it's still breathtaking.
Least favorite: Making the Orange-to-Blue switch at Rosslyn. For the afternoon rush-hour it's always packed, hot, and humid. Sometimes I'll make the switch at Foggy Bottom just because it's more relaxing (this adds 8 minutes to my trip).

Great, thank you for your opinions.

It may not be the only factor in where I decide to live, but I am a huge mass transit user (usually), and I was just curious about what riders think in general.

MOST HATED LINE: RED.

Too many train breakdowns.
Too many single-tracking delays.
Too many people during rush hour.
Too many older train cars with stained carpets, musty odors and graffiti on seats.

And the red line is a favorite spot for suicidal victims.

MOST LIKED LINE: GREEN.

Sleek, newer train cars.
Excellent on-time service.
Very few delays between Fort Totten and Gallery Place.
Navy Yard stop is a Hop-skip-and a jump to Nationals Park.

Definitely love/hate the red line, its the busiest I have been on, but it goes to the most important places for me.

You know what though, I can't complain about the red line, it's been fine for the last couple of months or so. It's arguably the busiest line in the system so you're bound to have some hiccups. I definitely like the green line, take it to go home and it's a little relaxing...still full, but it's not quite as packed.

Yeah, I was thinking since my office will be off the Bethesda red line, that I should probably live close to that line, but I don't think I would mind transferring...

Thank you again, everyone.

The Red is the worst. Always breaking down, lots of delays, and super crowded during rush hour. Orange line is my favorite!

I hate the red line. Its a meat market going back to shady grove at the end of the day. It sucks in the Spring, It sucks in the fall, it really sucks in the Winter, but its the worst in the summer.
