I am taking my parents to Washington DC this weekend. Since they are aged I don't want them to walk for long . Any recommendations to cover up most of the spots we supposed to go around the places in DC. My concern about stay, time and money to spend.

If you don't want them to walk too much your best bet is to get off the metro near the National Mall. Around there you'll see most of the museums and faily close to the Washington Monument and Holocaust musuem (Althought you need tickets for those in advance).
That would probably be your best bet in my experience. Although there is still some walking between the museums but nothing too bad. I'm sure if they have enough energy to walk around the museums they can easily go from museum to museum.
Btw, I stayed in Arlington. Both Roslyn and Ballston. They are both near a metro station. Get a metro map they are pretty easy to understand.
You can take the metro to Arlington National Cemetary and ride the tour bus there. The only thing that I know of that sticks out as being something that would probably require too much walking is the zoo. The metro station is a good walk up a long hill street which probably would wear them out.
It's important to note that distances along the Mall can be deceptively large. It's a distance of nearly 1 1/2 miles between the Washington Monument and the National Gallery of Art, for instance. So pick your spots carefully.
There is some limited parking around the Mall, but they can be notoriously difficult to come by, and nearly all of them are metered spaces with 2-3 hour time limits. Cabs, however, are plentiful and can be a good way to shuttle around between distant points.
I was just ther last week for 7 days, right after spending a week in Pilidelphia. Stayed in the Dupont Circle area.
