I'm having a hell of a time finding decent NONSTOP flights to Portland or Seattle. Between the three DC area airports, I have found just one nonstop flight.

This can't be true. This is a huge market to have such limited service to two large cities.

I really miss living in KC where you can fly nonstop to any place and it's never more than a 4 hour flight.

Any frequent flyers out there???

Use expedia, cheaptickets, cheapfares, priceline, travelocity and similar sites. There are plenty of nonstop flights to Seattle and Portland.

But this is the east coast, not the middle of the country. 1 stop is no big deal. Be wise and save your money.

I flew IAD-SEA (Dulles to Seattle) non-stop a couple of years ago. It's possible. It was better than the return trip SEA-ORD-IAD (thru Chicago).

This the only site you need: Matrix - ITA Software
Select "See calendar of lowest fares"

There are three nonstop flights daily to Seattle - two Alaska Airlines flights leaving from DCA, one in the morning, one in the evening, and one United Airlines flight leaving from IAD in the evening. United also has an evening nonstop flight to Portland.

And these fill up very quickly. With all the IT in this area, there's a huge demand for flights to SEATAC. The issue is cost/distance; other than these dedicated flights it's cheaper for the airlines to route through MDW, STL, or DFW.

Thanks for this. Pretty much what I was looking for. Sites like expedia don't show all airlines.

Still quite surprised there are not more flights though.

Why are you "quite" surprised? It's not like the PacNW is a densely populated region of the country like the east coast.
