It would be great if people could stop clogging this board up with their political views and leave that on the politics forum.
I know its bizarre that someone would actually talk about politics in a Washington, D.C. sub-forum (After all, what does D.C. have to do with politics?) but I didn't start this thread and it would be difficult to address the topic by only talking about how cool Georgetown Cupcake is or where can I find an apartment in Adams-Morgan and how easy is it get a security clearance for this job I'm applying for, etc.

There's more substance in any cupcake thread than in any of these political diatribes.

I want reasoned cuts to government. We shouldn't throw out the baby with the bathwater.

So far his economic policies have done nothing to improve our economy.

I can see why D.C. area folk support the democrats. What I can't figure out is why people outside the Beltway support them.
Actually, Obama's responsibility is to run our nation's government. Cutting or expanding the workforce to do that is not a requirement.

Economists are also in wide agreement that Obama prevented our economy from tipping into a new depression. Predictions of a slow recovery, no matter what anyone did, were made before he even took office.

You really can't see why people would support a political party that seeks to stabilize and grow the middle class rather than focus on the upper class? Or provide freedom and equality to oppressed populations? Or actually work to protect the environment?

Most of the most educated people in the world tend toward those values. Not sure where your confusion resides.

I am confused that so many people can still cling to these boilerplate assumptions about the Democratic Party.

Since January 20, 2009 America has seen that Obama and his party are wildly ineffective at lowering the national debt, decreasing budget deficits and putting Americans back to work.

Democrats are good at blaming all of their problems on the GOP, however.

Talking about stabilizing and growing the middle class isn't good enough. Eventually you have to put away the snake oil and DO the things you talk about. That is leadership.

Freedom for oppressed populations? Isn't that a George W. Bush line?

Protecting the environment? Obama has re-opened oil drilling for some of his biggest donors.

Don't believe the hype that the Democratic Party is noble. They are in it for the money just like the GOP.

This isn't a "slow recovery". Outside of the Beltway this is an economic depression. Obama has a responsibility to shrink the bureaucracy and put people back to work at PRODUCTIVE jobs that INCREASE GDP.
