Occupy DC has announced an “Occupy the Evening Commute” event for today, Friday, November 18, 2011. The group will assemble at 5:00 PM at the McPherson Square Metro Station (15th St & K St NW) and take the Metro to an undisclosed nearby station at 5:15 PM. The event is slated to last until 6:30 PM.
The action may result in delays and crowded train cars. Depending on protestors involved, the McPherson Square and other Metro stations may be overcrowded. In the past, Metro has closed overcrowded stations for rider safety.
The McPherson Square Metro Station is on the Blue and Orange Metro Lines. Occupy DC has not announced their route, and it may include changing train lines. Riders should prepare for service disruptions and use alternate routes if possible.
Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
My thing with the whole Occupy movement is that I don't understand what their point is or what they're ultimate goal is. They seem like a bunch of liberals/communists that want to do away with capitalism. I mean what is upsetting innocent workers' commutes going to accomplish?
" Im here to protest that the guy who is at work right now has more money then me"
Lets face it, if Obama was a republican it would be called occupy 1600 penn ave. But hey , cant blame him now , they hired him. And lets face it , yelling at cops and playing frisbee in the park is more fun then self loathing.
