"arms" means, in the context of the amendment and usage of the english language in the 18th century, guns.

It does not. Militia and naval privateers owned and carried every type of military arm known at the time.

Actually what will kill you are the guns kept in the hood, not your neighbors attitude.

I agree. There was a time when gun laws were far more lenient and yet you didn't have so-called Mexican standoffs everywhere.

The problem is poverty and education, not guns. But it's a lot easier to pass a law banning guns so every pol can give themselves a pat on the back than it is to reform education and increase income.

Crazy part is when I lived in the country in Mississippi, I had a gun. When I lived in the suburbs of New Orleans, I had a gun. I didn't get rid of my gun until I moved into the city of Washington DC. Crazy aint it.

When I lived in the country I had a gun too, as well as several other tools useful when living in the country. Now that I live in the city, I have tools useful for living in the city. A gun isn't one of them. I didn't even carry a gun when I was a Naval officer -- not needed on a submarine.

Rarely happens that way, but he can legally own a gun in the home now, regardless of how stupid that may be.

Looks like the city is caving in, and removing some of the barriers to owning a firearm in the district.

This is directly a result of Emily Miller's documentation in her series of articles on how utterly stupid, and in some cases dangerous, city policies are.

DC Cleans Up It's Gun Ban
EDITORIAL: D.C. cleans up its gun ban - Washington Times

It'll take time and the continued efforts of other folks, but eventually DC will be as free as the neighboring states for owning a firearm.

Change the laws or change the leaders people! Submit a move to change and vote it into law!
