What are your memories of this day?
Was The Star partially to blame?
What are your current thoughts on John Hinckley, Jr?

My mom was still pregnant so I'm going to guess that for me it was very warm, wet, and dark.

Presidential assasinations are par for the course for anyone that takes the job. I pass by that hotel all the time when I'm out and about in the city.

The media coverage was INSANE.
It was all over the news for weeks, months.
To this day the media still stalks John Hinckley, Jr.
I remember seeing him on the news just a few weeks ago.

You actually remember? Why did I think you were close to my age in your 30s? As mentioned I passed by that hotel all the time. The nice thing about DC is that you're always passing by something famous and historical.

Yes I remember this like it was yesterday.
From an early age I was always interested in politics.
I have never actually wanted to enter politics I just enjoyed observing it from a distance.
C SPAN was my favorite channel when I was growing up.
I hardly watched MTV.
Instead of toys my room was filled with cardboard cutout replicas of all the DC monuments.
I have a massive collection of political buttons dating back to the 1950s.
All original buttons. Not 1 single button in my collection is a replica or a remake.

I felt the most sorry for James Baker. His health was ruined, while Reagan recovered.

exactly! When I was in high school, before downtown's whole revitalization, we used to stand in line waiting to get into DC Live (long gone by now)...1 day, I look up and BAM, I'm standing right in front of Ford's Theater! had never even noticed it...

I remember DC Live used to have all of those Allen Iverson birthday bashes and Allen Iverson never even showed up. I never fell for their Bullsh*t marketing schemes.

I think you meant James Brady. Baker worked in the white house for quite some time.
