I am looking for a cheap apartment in the DC area. I don't mind living in "the hood" but that has to be within reason. So far I have found a $700 apartment near the Naylor Gardens, but I'm not 100% sure that is the cheapest I could go. Would it be possible to find something cheaper in a decent neighborhood, or should I just call the apartment office that's $700 (The complex is The Courts apartments btw)
I am not willing to live in Virginia as it is overpriced but I'm willing to go to Maryland. Not sure if I'm stuck in PG County due to my budget or is Montgomery County cheap as well.

WOW how much cheaper than $700 do you want?!?!? I'd say that's cheap depending on what you're looking for and I live in the hood myself.
I feel like I have the best deal in town given all the amenities I have (parking spot, hardwood, washer/dryer, granite/stainless etc etc) and I pay more than that so, uh, anything less than that and you're renting a closet someone was once murdered in.
Yep to killabunnies. You may be able to find something in Wheaton that cheap, that's hood but not like a murder a day. There's a few complexes that may be in your price range that aren't too bad and are mostly Latin. Try to stay within Wheaton though, Glenmont can get quite a bit shadier.

There's gotta be a catch to that 2 bedroom apartment.
