I just paid 150 dollars. So Guess what DC people, i am no longer going to spend any money in DC, that's right no lunch, no gas, no dinner no nothing. I am simply going to go to my unmentioned place of business, take your money, and leave. In fact I am contemplating taking my business out of DC. If you all are so concerned about safety that you have to charge non residents 150 dollars for a ticket. PUT A SIGN UP... For now, don't expect to see me at a bar or shop, you all lost out on me. P.S I HAVE NEVER HAD A TRAFFIC INFRINDGEMENT BEFORE THIS.

I hate the way they engineer the roads
in dc and md. compared to va, they sux
period! you can waste so much gas
following their signs or lack thereof.
va has their stuff together way more
plus it is a lot safer, and that shows
major incompetence on the part of the
other two areas. ddot and mdot need
to check themselves. i think they're
high lol.

VDOT is the one with the lousy signage. MdDOT is a little better at that. DCDOT is the worst of the three.

I agree with this. Even WITH an advanced GPS that tells me which lane I need to be in, I still almost always miss my exit or turn. Granted, I'm the kind of person who can't tell you what direction I am headed BUT I can still follow simple directions, something about this town just does not make sense.

It was such a victory the first time I found my way home without GPS after moving here.

The dumbest thing they did of all time was swapping the BW Parkway and Capitol Hill ramps on 295 Northbound so that everyone headed down 395 has to cross everyone headed on 295 to get over. That makes NO SENSE and creates unnecessary bottlenecks.

But hey, I'm no engineer, maybe they have some reason that is unclear to all us commonfolk just trying to get from Point A to Point B.

Very confused, because I was never pulled over. They sent me an email with just a picture of my the tag and a speed of 65 .... ( well speed is 70 MPH on the freeway ) I guess like the man said above we are dumb, but a highway going state to state I never saw signs, ( just get on 95 and go... people just go down 95 like 70 plus MPH.... & to change it suddenly with no work-zone or real reason or flashing lights.... but It was 4 am in the dark & have never heard of these sped trap radars ( red lights yes .... Now I owe $175.00 to the rental who paid the ticket & charging me a fine on top of a fine ugggg no way to even fight this. I don't care about having speed traps, but on a highway? that is just a revenue maker!!!! People from FL to MA use 95 & prob will go with traffic at about 70 mph. Only the people above who live there, would not know to reduce speed on a highway unless work zone or such ... Just found another reason to hate DC.
Well I-95 southbound toward North Carolina actually loops around the eastern half of the DC Beltway along with I-495 with which it shares a roadway. 295 is a shortcut through the District. I am from Baltimore County and not too familiar with DC outside the tourist areas and only know about this continuous freeway because of Google maps telling me to go that way which is a shorter distance than going all the way around PG County. Yes if you are a local resident maybe you know where all the traps are, like I know where many of the speed traps around Baltimore County are but I think a lot of the victims are out of town visitors and passerby. I have a Maryland tag but I don't live in the DC area they should know from my address. 95 was initially supposed to go straght through DC from College Park but there were freeway revolts in the ghetto. Both DC and to a lesser extent Baltimore traffic could be improved today if all the initial freeway construction plans through the city centers had been implemented but thats another discussion for another day!

Keep your money out of Montgomery County too, a nanny state following in the DC footsteps. They now tax plastic bags 5 cents a bag at every store whether its a supermarket or a department store. But yes DC, like Baltimore City, is very money hungry and yet always poor (despite the overabudence of yuppies ironically!!!) and always looking for more revenue. A beer that costs me $1.50 where I live costs me $7 in DC I wonder how much of that is tax. Gas prices in the District and around it are ridiculous, they can be about 40 or 50 cents more than usual for me. And the plastic bag tax started in DC too with the 5 cent tax. That plus these speed cameras that probably catch dozens of people from outside the area every day. Yet DC is always still asking for money from taxpayers in the rest of America to fund its schools and other things. In Maryland its the same with Baltimore City which is a drain on this state. So much tax revenue from suburban and rural parts of Maryland go there, so much wealth is redistributed there by the socialist governor O'Malley (who before he was mayor was a Montgomery County limosuine liberal by the way he went to some elite private high school like Gonzaga I think), yet their schools are still failing and they want more taxes to fund them, and they are almost as bad as DC when it comes to parking tickets, and parking fees too. now this happens in both DC and Baltimore City.....you can park somewhere that supposedly you can't park at and its not well marked...and you get a ticket.....and an hour later if you haven't gone back to your car they actaully give you a second ticket. Now this is ridiculous.

Part of the way DC is improving itself is actually by dumping a lot of the ghetto folks into Maryland, especially PG County and even Montgomery. Less of them go to Virginia, like less illegals also go to Virginia since Virginia is more conservative and gives out less freebies than Maryland.

Oh and and one last wonderful note....my old driving instructor at drivers ed went to DC once and at this intersection, there was a no turn on red sign but it was blocked by a tree since the city did not trim the leaves. So he went to court to explain it and he told us how the court purposely took a long time and took extended breaks so they couldn't hear all the cases that day, and to get people waiting for hours so they get impatient and pay the fine anyway. Apparently this is also how the District gets its revenue.

How would the poor black residents east of the Anacostia view your haughty DC elitist attitude? Did you forget that they too share the same city limits that you do, and are subject to the whims of those who are proud of making it "hard for a purpose?" Are you proud of how you present yourself in light of the 2 class system that you seem more than willing to perpetuate?

My guess is that you won't answer these questions honestly or forthrightly for fear of making yourself look more like an idiot (if that's even possible).
