It's akin to saying liberals in DC are going to make an exodus to rural Mississippi, no basic in fact, reality, psychology or logic. There's no reasonable path where DC would become noticeably more Republican, 1-4% possibly at most but there are no Republican major cities in America. You can't even provide an example.
The least you could do is say "most republicans" hate cities... or this or that... because at least that might be more accurate than claiming every single republican in the world hates cities and hates people who are different than them by race, religion, sexual orientation et al. I would say to an extent, comments like that claiming "they are all the same, which is this way" - clearly shows you don't know very many, nor what "they" believe in or don't believe in.

Liberal - Conservative, Democratic - Republican.... these words shouldn't hold so much meaning to people... everyone should start paying more attention to ideas and values etc. We need to hold these folks we are electing into office to a higher standard, so that these elected offices can be respected once again, and they can play their role of temporary "servants" of the Mother Land herself....

Maybe we should take away the notion of a "party" altogether - and force people to listen to what people running have to say, and force to look at the facts of their records and the way they live their lives.

You could tell from his post that he was speaking about Republicans generally. Do you expect people to add an addendum to every post they write clarifying when they are referring to "most," "some," "all," or "74.35 percent?"

Yep...

because through someone typing a post on a computer - no I could NOT tell that they are talking about republicans generally. I also don't think that is an accurate statement either way....

Besides... there are plenty of ignorant people that really do think all republicans are "this way"... and all democrats are "that way"... because that is how they were raised and what their minds were polluted with.. BOTH sides. It's rather pathetic.

Welcome to the modern era, since less and less people communicate through phone or and person, and more through the internet... I do think that it is important to "write out" what you are saying... and not expect anyone or everyone to make assumptions.

CLEAR Communication is key....

That's very nitpicky, I'm not writing a journalistic article, posts on here are opinion. How would I know the exact number of Republicans who want to live in cities? All I know is the vast majority of Republicans do not, they hate the diversity and liberal values you generally find in American cities. Even Salt Lake City is mostly Democratic and that's surrounded by Republican Mormonland.

Honestly I could care less... and I don't think it's "nitpicky" at all. I think it's a simple thing just to add one word that helps other people not completely dismiss your comments based on that. Again, I never said anyone has to know the exact number or percentage or anything... Just a simple suggestion to clarify.

I agree to an extent that most "larger" cities are predominately liberal.... but not at all to the comments about because "all republicans hate gays, and people of color" etc. Stuff like that is just so childish and inaccurate.... regardless of what side you are on again.

Sure it does, and sure I do. I'm thinking that it's you who doesn't understand the full range of the definition. I'll let you figure out why.

That'll be a tough task because almost 90 percent of the District voters are in the Democratic Party camp.

This is including older upper middle-class white households in Wards 2 and 3. Republican politics is a tough sell even in Georgetown.

This is including the single yuppie professionals who are living in recently gentrified neighborhoods from Columbia Heights to NoMa to Capitol Hill.

This is including a large and growing segment of the gay and lesbian populations from Logan Circle to Takoma Park.

This is including the white hipsters who hang out on H Street.

This is including a growing immigrant population of Latinos and Asians who historically trend with Democratic votes.

This is including a swelling number of 20-somethings moving into The District. And we all know that younger, college-educated people sympathize with more liberal causes and policies.

All of this tells me that DC will remain solidly Democratic for decades and I haven't even acknowledged the shrinking black resident vote.

It would be like me dreaming of a Socialist Workers Party governor in Texas or Utah. Pigs flying. Unicorns on the prairie. Rainbows with a pot gold everywhere, right?

Keep dreamin' dude.
Great post! I tried to explain in another post that he would never see that in his lifetime. LOL
