I also hope the bridge goes because I don't like the idea of measuring the height of the buildings from the top of the bridge. I hope the view of the Capitol dome from Route 50 remains unobstructed.

So they're going to wait for two more years (or more) before laying down tracks across N. Capitol Street? Or are they going to lay down tracks now, tear them up once construction starts, and then lay them back down again once they're done with the construction?

The hopscotch bridge is still in that rendering, the parking garage is coming down and the bridge is staying the same I believe. Look right next to where the parking garage used to be. Pay attention to the shadow of those buildings. That is a slopeing grade. It looks the same coming up the bridge. Look at the shadow. Also, look at the top, pay attention to the angles. The road is owned by the city so the construction of the streetcar has nothing to do with Union Station's development. It depends on China and how fast they can get shovels in the ground.
I believe there are better ways to spend this type of money. If the federal government is providing the funding, how about strengthening existing Metro service, stations, etc and adding a new line as well?

You can see the bridge in the first rendering in the top right corner. Do you see the black shadow begin cast from the bridge overhead. Also, the street cars are clearly going down a slope in the second picture.

The development is all private money. The high speed rail line is a combination of public and private money. The rail lines won't happen for a decade or two. The development over the tracks at Union Station is starting now. Akridge has just been waiting for Amtrak to finish their master plan so they could begin initial infrastructure which is mainly building the platform this neighborhood will sit on top of.

They will , but Union Station along with every Northeastern station needs to be upgraded and overhauled.
