I'm going to be heading out to a Nationals game this week with two kids under 5 years of age. What's the best way to get there and back? I'll be leaving early because of the kids (probably around 9 pm) so I won't be travelling back with the larger mass of fans. Is the Green line safe to travel at these times?
I'm an out of towner and have been riding the metro with no trouble although it was a bit rowdy when I got on a train car in Chinatown.
I would just metro in. Red line to Green line. It's safe. You could drive, weekday games won't be too crowded, but you may have a longer walk and parking will be at least $20 and the drive in could be brutal, especially if you are not used to DC traffic and their roads.
Red line Bethesda to Chinatown....Green line to Navy Yard.....and reverse. You'll be fine.
