I am relocating to this area very soon and my wife has a job lined up in Fredricksburg. I will be stationed at Andrews and will be working every other day. From what we can tell, the area seems very nice and has good schools. Is the commute doable or should we look more Fairfax county area? Thanks in advance.

Anything is doable, but if you are asking if you will still be sane, I would say no. That commute could be a nightmare. If you can handle doing that every other day, than go for it, but if you want to have a shorter commute you may want to look at Fairfax. If not, then PG isn't a bad option either, but it just depends on what part you are talking about and considering sending your children to private school.

What time would you be going? If you can get on the road before 7am, you'll miss the brunt of the traffic. 6am would be preferable. The traffic will be the worst on 95N. Once you get to the beltway, it's pretty smooth from there.
